Free Math Practice Sessions

You may come get extra practice, prepare for a quiz or test, or get a skill or concept taught to you in small group fashion. Math Practice Sessions begin at 7:00 AM on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Mr. Ioannacci will meet you at the front entrance at 6:55 AM. The first session is on Tuesday, August 20th.

Spring Musical Audition Workshop

Call all Seussical fans If you are interested in trying out for this year's school play Seussical Jr. be sure to come to the Call-out Audition Workshop on Thursday, Nov 21st from 2:45-4:30. Anyone in grades 6-8 are welcome to come. Meet in the choir room after school. If you are interested in being part of the crew this year, more information will be coming soon.

Piano and Vocal Solo & Ensemble Contest

If you are interested in registering for the ISSMA Piano or Vocal Solo & Ensemble Contest in February, please see Mrs. Johnson this week for a registration form. Forms and payment are due on Tuesday, Nov. 26th before Thanksgiving Break.

Congratulations 2020 IMEA Honor Choir Members

HIJH would like to congratulate the following students for being selected into the 2020 IN Music Educators Association Honor Choir! This is a HUGE honor as there were hundreds of auditions submitted across the state of Indiana! HIJH will have the maximum number of students allowed to represent us! This is the first time in our school's history to have so many singers chosen. Please help us congratulate: Josh Batuyong Grace Einsfeld Megan Harder Savannah Huck Gracelynn Hyman Trey Johnson Owen Maass Nick Millines Lyra Montalvo These singers will perform in Ft. Wayne in January at the Embassy Theatre along with other Middle School singers from around the State! Congratulations to these fine musicians!

Save Those Pop Tabs!

One of our Panther students will be collecting pop can tabs and donating them to the Ronald McDonald's Children's House to raise funds for that organization. In lunch, please take off the tabs from any Izze drinks or pop cans and place them in the designated boxes in the lunchroom. Also, collect any pop can tabs at your home and bring them in! Collection bins will be located in the lunch room and outside of Room 248, Mrs. O’Rourke’s room. Thank you for your support of this student-led humanitarianism project.

NJHS MATH HELP SESSION TUTORING -TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS

National Junior Honor Society Members, Mr. Ioannacci is looking for two students every Tuesday and Thursday per week. Each math help session is 30 minutes of community service!! Come and help other students practice a skill or concept, prepare for a quiz or test in small group fashion. Math Practice Sessions begin at 7:00 AM on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Black Student Union - Upcoming Meeting Dates

The Junior Black Student Union is meeting on September 25th, October 29th, and November 21st with a pick up at 4pm. If you have any questions about our club, please contact Mr. Willey.

MathCounts!

Do you like to be challenged? Can you solve math problems in creative ways? Do you like snacks? If so, MathCounts is for you! MathCounts is an organization that sponsors math competitions all over the country. We meet and practice on Fridays, 2:45-4:00, in Room 146. You must be able to have a ride at Door 16 by 4:00. Practices begin on Friday, Oct. 25, Nov. 1,8, and 15, and Dec. 6 and 13. If you have questions, see Mrs. Hardee.

Book Club

Project Lit Book Club will meet this Thursday, November November 21.

5/6 SCIENCE Bowl Academic Team

Attention young scientists! The Science Bowl team is about to begin. Please pick up an interest letter and permission slip from Mr. TeGrotenhuis (240). Slips are due by December 3rd.

Sports/Club Sports

6th Grade Basketball

The 6th grade boys basketball team opened up their basketball season with two wins at home versus Mt. Vernon. The first game was close, but free throws at the end sealed a 31-22 win. The second game was a dominating performance, winning 50-16. Next game is Thursday on the road versus Lapel

Boys Basketball Home Game

The 8th Grade Boys opened their season this past week with games at Carmel and a close loss on Tuesday at Greenfield. The Boys Basketball Teams return home and We Need YOU! Thursday night at 5:30PM, HIJH will host rival Fishers Junior High. Please come out, be loud and proud and support your Panther Basketball teams. Hang out with your friends and even visit the concession stand. We hope to see you Thursday night at 5:30.
