Hello Panther Parents/Guardians,
There is a lot going on here at HIJH as we embrace the Madness that is March! Hopefully the contents in this newsletter will provide you with all the details you need to know so you can be involved.
I want to give one more plug for you to consider one of the 4 opportunities this weekend to attend this year’s Musical—Newsies. Our students and staff have been working hard to put on another great production for you and your family to enjoy.
I want to remind you that March 10th is the end of the grading period; please encourage your students to ensure they are current in their class/coursework and meet all deadlines. Also, the 13th is our last Flex Day, if we don’t have to use it before then, there will be no school that day.
Lastly, I want to make you aware that we are preparing arrangements for any student who observes Ramadan here at HIJH. If you have questions or would like to know more details, please contact us.
As always, thanks for the trust you put in us each day to educate your students. If there is anything you ever need to share with us to help us in the process, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Attendance LinePlease call the attendance line, 317-594-4126, by 9:00 am to report all attendance including early dismissals, all day absences and late arrivals. This allows the staff adequate time to facilitate the requests. We will send your student a pass and have them waiting for you in the office at the time requested.
If you do not call ahead, the parent/guardian will need to show identification to have the student dismissed. This is for the security of our students.
Please be aware that it may take time to locate students who are at lunch, recess, outside for P.E., etc. The more notice you can give the school, the smoother this process becomes. We appreciate your assistance! |
Early Dismissal and Car Rider LineThe car rider line forms quite early. Dismissals after 3:30 pm may be difficult to maneuver.

|
Drop Off Area ReminderDrop off area is located at the entrance of the building.
Please continue to drop off your student's items on the drop off table in the main lobby. If you circle that you have texted your student, a note will not be delivered to them. Our student aids bring the items into the office for students to come and pick up.
Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to work on protecting our class time and safety. |

Current 5th Grade StudentsNext school year for incoming 6th graders, the Indiana State Department of Health requires all 6th grade students to receive their Tdap and Meningitis shots by their 11th birthday.
All students must be compliant with these requirements within 20 days of their 11th birthday/ or 20 days after the start of the school year if student is 11 and in 6th grade. Students will not be able to remain in school after the 20 days without proof of vaccination or a signed religious or medical exemption.
Students are marked as compliant in Skyward with an updated immunization record, or a current religious exemption for the current school year. You may get immunizations from your personal doctor, clinics, urgent care, or health departments. Please check with your insurance to see which option is best for you. We no longer accept a future appointment as complying. You must have the updated vaccinations or the religious exemption.
Once you have received the vaccinations, please send a copy to eallen@hse.k12.in.us This can be done over the summer as well. If you have any questions or need a copy of the exemption form, please let us know. |
