HIJH Panther Planters Garden Club meets once or twice a week depending on the weather from March to October of each school year. All students in all grades are welcome to attend any week our meeting time fits into their schedule around the many other activities they may be participating in. Since we donate most of the food we grow, this is an opportunity for junior high students to earn community service hours for the National Junior Honor Society. There are many hands-on activities to participate in as we incorporate agriculture into the Panther Community. Some of those activities include learning how to start plants as seeds raising them to maturity, companion planting, timing of planting in Indiana, harvesting and learning how to cook some of what we harvest into healthy meals. By participating in Panther Planters, you will gain the knowledge of how to start and maintain your very own backyard garden while gaining an appreciation of how our food goes from farm to plate.
